5 Church Street is located on one of Buxton’s oldest streets – you can hear the bell of the nearby 17th century St Anne’s Church from time to time (but thankfully not at crack of dawn on Sundays!). The access-only lane is at the heart of the historic Higher Buxton area, just a few minutes’ walk from the Market Place with its Tuesday and Saturday stalls, good restaurants and excellent real ale pubs. A pleasant stroll through the gracious Pavilion Gardens takes you to the centre of Georgian Buxton with its elegant Crescent, Thermal Baths shopping arcade and stunning Edwardian Opera House . The cottage has private off-street car-parking (for one vehicle) and is very convenient for Buxton railway station with through trains to Manchester, one of Europe’s liveliest modern cities, less than an hour away.
Bus, rail and road links from Buxton are very good, giving easy access to the beautiful Peak District, great Derbyshire stately homes (such as Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick), wonderful walking country and excellent shopping centres. Cycle hire is available on the High Peak and Tissington Trails, part of the national Sustrans network and the cottage has a secure bike store with electric charging point.
