Cycling in the Peak District

5 Church Street, Buxton is an excellent base for a cycling holiday. The cottage has a secure cycle store with electric cycle charging point, providing safe storage for four bikes. (We need to say a special thank you to Pedal Peak for Business for awarding us a European Regional Development Fund grant for this.)

The Peak District offers wonderful cycling opportunities, from family-friendly former railway tracks such as the Monsal Trail and Tissington Trail, just a few miles to the south of the town, to the many country tracks and bridleways for responsible mountain biking. Route 68 of the National Cycle Network passes through Buxton and we have the excellent Peak Ascent bike shop, just 200 yards from the cottage.

There are many cycle hire places in the vicinity, with Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire on the Monsal Trail being the nearest, about 3.5 miles / ten minutes’ drive along the A6.
